home.

2 Jun

is it seriously june already? it seems that the days have begun to mash together, considering the complete whirlwind of unpacking, painting and organizing that we’ve submerged ourselves in. but how delightful! oh, and there are still boxes… everywhere. it amazes me yet how much stuff the husband and i have accumulated over the years. well… we’ve started shedding it. a good deal of things have been hauled off, car load after car load, to the salvation army. feels good knowing that our things will help others, but i do feel sorta weirdish about just giving away a pair of $200 sneakers that i hardly wore. i wonder if they’ll even make it to the shelf? better yet,… what will the price tag be?

downsizing the material items sort of feels good, however.

the house is coming together rather sweetly, i might add, and i’ve already established my favorite spot in backyard entire world… OUR favorite spot I should say (the little Q and I). we’ve already spent a few solid afternoons lazily lounging in said spot under the tree, just soaking in the day.

so yes, house things are swell! it is really starting to feel like home, slowly but surely.

photos to come (once I manage to locate and unpack my camera).

:)

oh, hi there.

9 May

i found you again.

i seriously forgot this blog was out there until i stumbled back upon it just now (after digging through a bajillion bookmarks i have saved in a completely unorganized fashion).

so wow.

allow me to semi-fill the gap between the last post and now.

ready?

1) baby is completely awesome. he’s now 11 months old.   he makes my world go round.

2) the mr. and i are closing on our brand new house on tuesday! lots of fun house projects are in our near future. might write about them here, actually.

3) etc.

yea…see that etc. there? it means i’m lazy.      so.what.

so are you ready for this?

oh…

and i figure that this will just be a ramble blog. for when i got somethin’ i want to say. which might be a frequent occurrence.  but then again, i’m lazy… remember?

:)

teef!

9 Dec

it’s official, our little big boy is getting some teeth! we felt his bottom gum today and sure enough, the beginnings of two little teeth have begun to surface.

he is growing SO FAST.  i can’t even believe it. somebody needs to pinch me. :)

tomorrow festivities = santa, outdoor ice skating and city exploration! – i love this time of year, and so glad I get to spend it with my little guy <3

lights and other things.

8 Dec

we decided to add some more lights to the outside of the house today and quinn was there to supervise, rather intently, to make certain we did everything just right…

after we finished i asked him if things looked up to this standards. he made this silly face, which i took as his approval.

and here is a current photo of our family tree. it’s so funny – in years past i would always say to jason just as we were shoving it back into its box “ya know, next year we really do need to get a bigger tree…”

but, for some reason now, i just find it so perfect. i don’t know that i want a bigger tree, or atleast not for a while. jason and i have used this tree for all of our christmases together. i suppose we will eventually upgrade, once we outgrow it by hoarding away too many ornaments…

we also stopped by ethan’s spot this week and added some festive decor! we didn’t bring out his tree yet, but probably will within next week or so. i really enjoy doing things like this in his sweet little memory. we are also starting a family tradition this year where quinn will pick out a toy or two to give to charity in ethan’s memory. jason and i have done this in years past, but it is now special to get to share that with quinn, as i really want him to understand the importance of giving to others, especially those less fortunate, this time of year. <3

we love you ethan <33!

sweet little boy.

It’s hard to believe he will already be six months old on Thursday!

vintage card holder.

4 Dec

about a week ago i was looking at random christmas stuff on ebay and a “vintage santa” search yielded this adorable little christmas card holder from the 50s. i placed a bid and won it for $3.00!

i think it is so darling – now i can’t wait to fill it up with christmas cards, so start sending them people – :)

btw, it is 12:44 a.m. and Quinn is staring back at me on his video monitor… what the! this is the second night in a row where he has woke up mid-night and just starts talking and smiling and grabbing his toes lol. i don’t know what i’m going to do with this boy…

zwarte piet.

3 Dec

jason made this ornament of zwarte piet when he was 4 years old and lived in belgium.  i think it is fabulous that it has lasted over 23 years now, but something tells me that if quinn could get his hands on it, it would surely meet its demise.

zwarte quinn?

ethan’s christmas tree

so,
